Ladakh is cold mountain desert that lies in the rain shadow area of Himalayas. The region has many trails that link to the ancient silk route that was once used for trading with central Asia and Europe.
Day 1 - 3: Village Life Experience After arrival in Leh by flight, you drive through the beautiful countryside villages with a panoramic view of Leh Valley, Stok mountain range and Indus river. You check in after a refreshing drink and a warm Ladakhi welcome. We take it slow for your body to adapt and acclimatize to the change in air pressure and altitude. Some meals would be arranged by the banks of Indus River which is a traditional way of merry making in Ladakhi culture. Some of the other places of interest are Hall of Fame, Gurudwara Pather Sahib, funny Magnetic Hill and confluence of Indus and Zanskar Rivers, Lamayuru and Turtuk village. Travel along with Shyok river on the old silk route as the views take your breath away. During your village experiences, there will be ample opportunities to stay and interact with locals, participate in their daily chores and cultural immersion. -- Day 4 - 6: Nubra Valley & Pangong Lake Reach Saspol village, one of the greenest and beautiful villages of Sham Valley. We highly recommend that you join the local families for the daily chores of feeding and milking the cows. You are encouraged to take part in cooking from plucking vegetables and learning the Ladakhi cuisine. Other things of interest are rock-cut temples, water-mills, apricot orchards and Alchi monastery. Over these few days we cross Khardung-La to visit the cold dunes of Hunder, fertile lands of Nubra valley and Diskit monastery while you spend your evenings hosted by local families. Experience of staying overnight in camps near Pangong Lake needs no introduction. On each of the cold nights, you can get cozy with bonfire near the campsite or homestay. -- Day 7: Leh We move to Leh for the stay with a family. Some places of interest are Palam village, old wooden flag laded bridge, local organizations promoting distinct cultural heritage and arts of Ladakh. See the traditional houses of Ladakh that were restored to showcase the heritage of the Ladakhi architecture. Visit the Leh Palace which is right above. Have lunch with a local family in Leh, and proceed for 'Shanti Stupa' which has a beautiful view of Leh city. Hustle through Leh market for any souvenir shopping and come back to the hotel for some warm bonfire. --
