Terms & Conditions

The Folk Tales refers to the brand name for Folktales Journeys OPC Pvt. Ltd.
Client/ Clients refer to the recipients of our tour planning services.

General Terms

  • All prices quoted are subject to change without prior notice – Once we give a quotation, we do our best to not have any changes in it. However, in certain circumstances beyond our control, the prices can change due to fluctuating exchange rates, and changes in the rates of accommodations. The Folk Tales will inform the Client of this change (if any). The difference in price has to be settled before the client’s arrival in India. There will be no changes in the price of a holiday after the Client makes the payment.
  • The Folk Tales reserves the right to cancel or amend – In certain rare situations, for the Client’s own safety or due to situations beyond our control, we may have to cancel or change “a part” of the holiday. The Folk Tales may or may not inform the Client prior to making such amendments given that it can be an urgency. If this happens, we will help the Client with alternate plans that can be incorporated in the itinerary. If the Client chooses to not accept the alternate arrangements, we will refund the amount pertaining to “the part” of the holiday that is canceled/ amended. The Folk Tales shall not be held legally liable for any damages, additional expenses, or other consequences whatsoever.
  • Complaints – Following terms will apply in case of any complaints during the tour –
    – The Folk Tales works on behalf of our service providers for accommodations, transportation, and other services. In case of a complaint, it is the responsibility of the Client to inform the direct service provider and The Folk Tales “immediately”. We will do our best to resolve the Client’s complaint, but we cannot do it unless we know about it.
    – Failure to inform the direct service provider and The Folk Tales immediately will result either in a reduction or complete termination of any rights that the Client may have to receive compensation.
    – The direct service provider for accommodations, transportation, and activities is the first point of contact for any resolution. Usually, all complaints will be resolved at this level. In case that does not happen, The Folk Tales is the Client’s secondary point of contact.
  • The Folk Tales shall not be held legally liable for any of the following circumstances –
    –  Death, injury, sickness, or accident caused. We strongly advise all Clients to carry travel insurance and all medicines prescribed by their general practitioner in sufficient quantity.
    – Delayed or lost baggage or personal belongings during the tour. All Clients are advised to be personally responsible for their belongings.
    – Any physical or monetary damages caused due to situations beyond our control. This includes riots, war, terrorism, invasion, strikes, civil war, or an Act of God (collectively “Force majeure” events). The Folk Tales will provide all possible assistance and recommendations to help, but it is the responsibility of the Client to arrange for visas, flight tickets, quarantine facilities, vaccinations, or any other arrangements in this situation.
  • Jurisdiction – Any terms and conditions and agreements will automatically be construed, interpreted, and governed by the laws of the Government of India.

Payment Terms

  • Booking deposit – The Client can make a full payment or a 50% deposit. The Balance is due 30 days before the travel date.
  • Modes of payment – We accept bank transfers, credit cards and debit cards, and Wise.com. We don’t recommend cash deposits or cheques.
  • Processing fee – All modes of payment attract a standard fee that is charged either by the bank or third-party platforms, and is payable by the Client.
  • Invoicing – We share a proforma invoice followed by a tax invoice once the payment is received. The Client must inform The Folk Tales with the transaction reference number.

Cancellation Terms

Multi-Day Tours

  • Cancellation 45 days or more from the date of the start of the holiday: Forfeiture of USD 350.
  • Cancellation between 44 days and 30 days from the date of the start of the holiday: Forfeiture of 50% of the tour cost.
  • Cancellation less than 30 days from the date of the start of the holiday: Forfeiture of 100% of the tour cost.
  • We are unable to refund the amount spent on non-refundable bookings such as wildlife safaris or government taxes.
  • If the government suspends travel to India, we will provide you a credit note. You can use the amount paid for a future tour within two (2) years.
  • If you are unable to travel, you can also transfer the tour to a friend or family.
  • Note: All cancellation requests must come through email only.

Single-Day Tours

  • Cancellation more than 6 hours from the start time: 50% of the tour cost.
  • Cancellation less than 6 hours from the start time: no refund.
  • Note: Fee of third-party platforms is non-refundable.

Disclaimer

  • The Folk Tales takes services from certain agencies of the Indian Government such as airlines, railways, visa services, event tickets, and restricted area permits. In case of a cancellation, this fee will be refunded subject to the policy of the service of the Indian Government. The Folk Tales has no control over it whatsoever.
  • Some accommodations request full deposit and 100% cancellation fee especially during the peak tourist season in India. In such a case, the cancellation policy of the accommodation provider will apply.
  • Service fee – In case of a cancellation, The Folk Tales charges a minor service fee. This depends on a case-by-case basis, and we try to keep it minimal.
