Assam is the second largest state in North East India and home to numerous tribes including Bodo, Deori, Kachari, Mishing, Hojai, Dimasa, and many sub-tribes.

On this tour, you get to experience the lives of Bodo and Mishing people along with the textile, culinary, and wildlife experiences in Kaziranga national park.

Day 1 & 2Arrive in Guwahati + City tour

We will meet you at Guwahati airport or the railway station. We then drive to Guwahati city and check-in. Spend the first day getting acquainted with the city, local textile experiences, and a visit to the Kamakhya Devi temple.

Visit the Sualkuchi weavers village for a guided day tour and visit the many artisans as they work on handlooms weaving colorful Mekhela Chador from ‘paat, eri, or muga silk‘. Mekhela Chador is a two-piece traditional dress worn by Assamese women.

Day 3 & 4Experiences with the Bodo tribe

Spend the next few days with the Bodo community experiencing their traditional cuisine, and their daily chores such as farming, fishing, and handloom crafts.

Day 5 & 6Wildlife experiences

Drive along the rice paddies and the Brahmaputra river to Kaziranga national park which is a vast stretch of elephant grass, marshlands, and dense broadleaf forests.

Spend the next two days experiencing the morning and evening safari in the national park and relaxing at your resort.

Day 7 & 8Experiences with the Mishing tribe

We move further to Majuli island. It is the largest river island in the world and home of the Mishing people and the birthplace of the neo-Vaishnavite movement. Over the next few days, we go for guided village tours along the canals that criss-cross the island, visit the Vaishnavite monasteries and spend time with a Mishing family experiencing village life.

Day 9Departure

We complete the tour and say goodbye to awesome Assam. Drive back to Guwahati or Jorhat airport for onward journey.

We have and recommend hotels for the wildlife experience and homestays in the villages. Special attention has been given to hygiene and hospitality in the homestays.

Yes, it is safe and feasible for solo travelers also. We help you with the necessary arrangements and set-up the budget as per your preferences.
