Splendid Rajasthan – Experience Culture, Crafts, and Communities
Rajasthan is known for its vibrant colours, deserts, royal architecture, and historic forts. But what truly sets this journey apart is the community interaction and off-beat experiences, through rich storytelling, village tours, and immersive workshops at a leisurely pace.
This private cultural tour of Rajasthan covers the popular highlights, like the majestic forts of Jaipur, the palaces of Udaipur, and the lakes of Jodhpur. But it goes beyond the usual with off-the-beaten-path experiences with nomadic shepherds and tribal communities such as the Bishnoi, Raika, and Bhil, each with their traditions and deep connection to the land.
As part of our commitment to responsible travel in India, this tour aims to support rural livelihoods. We visit local artisans in smaller towns and villages, where you can witness traditional crafts being kept alive, like miniature painting, bangle-making, brassware, and marble masonry. You are welcome to try them hands-on or enjoy the stories as a spectator.
This experience offers a blend of history and culture, making it an ideal offbeat Rajasthan itinerary fit for travellers seeking authentic and meaningful experiences in India.

Experience Jaipur Through Stories, Craft, and Culture
Your private Jaipur cultural tour begins with a warm welcome at the Jaipur airport or railway station, followed by a transfer to your stay, a beautifully restored, family-owned palace that offers both comfort and character.
While Jaipur is famous for its grand forts and palaces, what truly makes your experience special are storytelling and meaningful local encounters.
Join us on a guided storytelling tour of the iconic Amber Fort, City Palace, and Hawa Mahal, where we bring the history to life. Later, head to the homes of traditional artisans—marble and brassware artisans, for a hands-on experience.
Step into the quiet charm of old Amer town, where you will experience the stepwells, charming narrow streets, and temples visited only by the locals.
Optional add-ons:
Jaipur food tour
Sunrise spiritual and market tour
Block-printing workshop with local artisans
Need help from Delhi? We’re happy to arrange accommodation, airport pickup, and transfers from New Delhi on request.
We travel onward to Bundi, a charming town that remains untouched by mass tourism. With its blue-washed alleys, ornate stepwells, and quiet pace of life, Bundi offers an authentic Rajasthan experience away from the crowds.
Over the next two days, we explore the Bundi Palace and its famous Chitrashala—a stunning gallery of Rajasthani miniature paintings that depict stories from the life of royalty and folklore in intricate detail. Knowing the stories of the murals makes this experience truly unique and different from a typical monument tour.
One of the tour’s highlights is a day spent in the Bundi countryside, where we visit remote Bhil tribal villages. Hike through the region’s landscape, forest trails, perennial rivers, waterfalls, and ancient temples, to get a glimpse into rural India.
Optional: Visit a school to volunteer during activities or a family home during festivals.
As we drive through lesser-known Rajasthan towns, we stop at local farmers’ markets, roadside tea stalls, and snack on authentic treats like kachori and jalebi, in places only locals usually know. Share insights into local social structures, customs, and traditions, making this journey both immersive and insightful.
Spend a few days in Udaipur, one of Rajasthan’s most romantic and serene cities. Often called the City of Lakes or the Venice of the East, Udaipur is known for its elegant palaces, heritage havelis, and lake-facing eateries.
Arrive by evening and enjoy a relaxed first day exploring the streets of the old city and the tranquil shores of Lake Pichola at your own pace.
The next day, join us for a guided cultural tour of Udaipur, starting with the magnificent City Palace. Later, wander through local bazaars of spices, fruits, vegetables, utensils, and more, where you experience the joyful colours and handmade crafts.
If you have a special interest in textiles, we visit the workshops of traditional textile artisans to witness tie-and-dye techniques and the beautiful art of block printing. Watch how local artists use hand-carved wooden blocks and natural indigo dyes to create stunning fabrics.
Optional: Experience the Holi festival in the countryside at a family home with two full days of celebration
Whether you are interested in crafts, cuisine, or culture, Udaipur is a must-visit on your custom Rajasthan itinerary.
We travel from Bundi to Ghanerao, with a brief stop at the breathtaking Ranakpur Jain Temple, renowned for its intricate marble architecture and peaceful location in the Aravalli hills.
Explore the impressive Kumbhalgarh Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its massive walls and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
The journey continues with a rare opportunity to spend time with the Raika community, traditional camel herders of Rajasthan. Learn about their nomadic lifestyle and the unique bond they share with their camels.
Optional experience: Add a private leopard safari. Spot elusive leopards in their natural rocky habitat, guided by those who know the terrain best.
This leg of your custom Rajasthan cultural tour is perfect for those seeking a mix of history, wildlife, and immersive village experiences off the beaten path.
Spend the next few days in and around Jodhpur, soaking in the vibrant villages, the ancient blue city, and lively markets of western Rajasthan.
We arrive by afternoon and start with a home-cooked Rajasthani meal, lovingly prepared by a family. Head out for a wildlife safari, where you might spot blackbuck antelope, blue bulls (nilgai), and peacocks roaming freely.
Step into the homes of traditional potters, carpet weavers, and shepherds, where you will hear stories about their daily way of life.
The next day, we take a guided tour of Jodhpur, starting with the majestic Mehrangarh Fort and the serene Jaswant Thada cenotaphs. Then we dive into the blue city’s bustling lanes, tasting local delicacies, visiting bangle makers, leather sandal artisans, sweet shops, and finally sharing tea at a family’s home.
Optional experience: Explore the desert town of Osian, known for its stunning Jain temples and take a camel cart ride into a desert village.
As we near the end of your custom Rajasthan tour, we arrive in Jaisalmer, often called the Golden City due to its stunning sandstone architecture that glows warmly in the evening sun.
Over the next couple of days, explore the charm of this historic desert town through self-guided walking tours of the old city. Wander through narrow lanes, taste local delicacies like poha and dhokla, which are typical breakfast items in this region.
A highlight of your visit is the Patwa Haveli, a beautifully preserved cluster of mansions built by the wealthy Oswal Jain traders in the 19th century. Known for their intricate carvings and opulent facades, these havelis reflect Jaisalmer’s golden age of trade in spices, gold, silver, and opium.
We visit the mysterious Kuldhara ruins, once home to the Paliwal Brahmins, a prosperous community that famously abandoned the village overnight. The legends surrounding their sudden departure continue to intrigue visitors to this day.
Return to the Jaisalmer Fort for a relaxing evening.
As your journey through Rajasthan comes to a close, we bid farewell and assist you with your onward travel from Jaisalmer, whether by airport transfer or train station drop-off.
Optional: If you have more days, consider adding Bikaner to the experience or increase the number of days at each destination from two to three.
