Uttarakhand is situated in Northern India and can be a perfect extension to the tour of the Golden triangle. This tour includes experiences in the Kumaon region that was once ruled by the Kurmanchal and Chand kingdoms. During their peak, their rule was from Sikkim in the east to Afghanistan in the west.
Most of Kumaon is rural with many remote villages spread across the Himalayan foothills. Due to the lack of employment opportunities, Kumaon is perhaps the worst affected by the migration of youth to the cities. However, through rural tourism and other social initiatives, the youth is once again beginning to look back to their homeland for work opportunities.
The homestay experiences will give you a glimpse of the warm hospitality of the locals. And if you choose to visit during any of the festivals especially ‘Baithaki Holi‘, we can also involve you in storytelling and singing local folk songs that are a part of village rituals and a way to offer prayers.

We drive down to the Binsar sanctuary and spend a few days experiencing the wildlife and nearby village life. Kumaon has over 350 species of indigenous and migratory birds such as parakeets, Khalij pheasants, forktail, eagles, monal, woodpeckers, Eurasian jays, and blackbirds. The mammals you can expect are the leopard, flying squirrel, musk deer, Himalayan goral, jungle cat, macaque, and gray langur. You can expect to see these on a guided walking tour of the sanctuary.
Go for a guided tour of Jageshwar, a 7th-century group of Shaivite temples made out of stone blocks. There are numerous other smaller shrines dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Shakti, and Surya traditions of Hinduism. The drive to Jageshwar temples itself is scenic as you travel through beautiful step farms, remote villages, and eventually the Himalayan cedar tree forests.
