Western Arunachal Pradesh comprises of high altitude mountain passes and the snowcapped Himalayas. On this tour, we take the route from Nameri national park to Tawang (once the only Gateway to Tibet). This region is inhabited by the Monpa people who are primarily Buddhist.
We travel to some of the remotest parts of Arunachal Pradesh with hairpin mountain bends and dense forests, and numerous Indian army posts that work 24/7 to keep the roads working for us in this beautiful yet challenging terrain.

The Tawang monastery is the second largest in Asia after the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. It is situated 3,000 m above sea level, has three levels with 65 residential buildings and a school of Buddhist studies. All of this gives a glimpse into the fabric of Vajrayana Buddhism.
